Hetty Dimpleton started painting her late grandfather's relic saws in 1987, operating out of her basement in Terre Haute, Indiana. Despite setbacks during her first decade in business, such as solvent allergies and the confiscation of her stock of saws in a dispute with a craft show organizer over a table fee, Mrs. Dimpleton built her company into the largest ebay power seller of painted saws in the world, with a feedback rating in the thousands. Dimpleton was an innovative designer and marketer, leading the way with pictures other saw painters tried to imitate. Her art's consistently high quality and whimsy keeps demand for her saws strong, with prices for her original creations often reaching the high twenties. Dimpleton's panther head saw set a record, attaining a price of $45 in a heated bidding war.

This non-commercial website is dedicated to the memory of Hetty Dimpleton, who died last year in a freak accident in which a pile of freshly-painted saws fell on her. This website is also intended to be a resource for people interested in Dimpleton painted handsaws: whether you're a beginning collector, an online auction seller who wants know more about the saws you're trying to pitch, or someone who wants to restore and actually paint a handsaw.
